What is the mission behind
PI?
PI's mission is to deliver products that will allow users
to create, repurpose, store, share and access personal information
in novel ways, taking advantage of the ubiquity of computing
power and a new interconnected world.
Why now, what has changed?
The most significant technical change occurring in the coming
decade is the spread of inexpensive, high-speed connectivity;
it will have as great an impact as the introduction of inexpensive,
high performance personal computers in the 1980's and 90's.
The PC (or Personal Computing) revolution made computing available
to tens of millions of people for the first time, making it
easier for people to author and manage information.
As with most things though, the strengths of the PC are
mirrored by weaknesses. The information that is stored is
hard to find, share with others and keep up-to-date. New metaphors
based on search and selective views that are automatically generated
and updated are needed. High speed connectivity and breakthroughs
like next generation overlay networks, combined with security
via state of the art encryption, will allow a user to publish
and share their important information.
How would you describe your team?
Pi's founding team consists of industry veterans from multiple
nationalities and distributed around the world. We are a team
of hard-core engineers who love what we do; satisfying the
customer is our ultimate goal. We believe that it is time
for technology to do the heavy lifting, and not the customer.
Why India?
The availability of qualified talent is what attracted us
to India. It is clear that India is becoming a global powerhouse
for software development, and it is appropriate that leading
edge development now be done here.
What are you providing to the market?
Pi is working on next generation software that will allow users to create,
repurpose, store, share and access personal information in
novel ways.
Who are your customers? Individuals, Developers,
Large Enterprises?
Pi solutions are designed to meet the needs of individuals and information
workers.
With your focus on high-bandwidth is this a product
only for the first world?
Other companies are doing a good job providing solutions for
today's environment. At Pi we are trying to shoot ahead and
address tomorrow's environment. With the maturing of such
technologies as wireless, it is a question of when, not if,
the majority of the world's population will have access to
broad-band connectivity.
